BOUQUET INGREDIENTS
dahlias, eucalyptus, sunflowers, cosmos, zinnias

This week marks our eighteenth week of bouquet deliveries. Counting a few gap weeks, that's twenty-two weeks of snipping stems, stripping leaves, washing buckets, folding wraps, rubberbanding, taking out the compost. Now, with first frost expected in the coming weeks, we're eagerly looking toward the deep rest of winter while preemptively grieving the temporary loss of the work we love.
Throughout this season—our seminal third growing season—we accomplished many of our goals: using our space to its fullest capacity, having a steady supply of blooms for the duration of the season, and connecting with customers who truly appreciate local flowers by testing out a bouquet subscription service (<3) and selling to florists. We've been reflecting that the shift we’ve felt this season is the result of finally taking ourselves seriously as growers, casting imposter syndrome aside and building confidence in our ability to do what we set out to do.
We still have much to learn about flower farming, and next year we hope to increase our skill in timing blooms, floral arranging, and navigating the particular precarities of each growing season. This is my favorite thing about farming—the opportunity to try again each season (if we’re lucky, with a little more knowledge and a little less fear), and learn from the evolving uncertainties that come with it.
And to each of you who have made it all possible:
A heartfelt thank you. We hope you've received as much pleasure from your flowers as we've received growing them for you. Our year in flowers.
